Who are You?

Even before the 2020 pandemic, you had a sense that something about the way you lived and worked was not quite serving well. Perhaps you noticed it was hard to get the balance between family life and work right. Maybe you were exhausted from years (or decades) of running in the hamster wheel. You know...thinking, If I just keep it up for a bit longer, eventually I'll be "there" and THEN I can rest! Except you never seem to get "there". And you never truly rest.

You know there has to be a better way. A Third Way, as we call it, that relieves you from having to choose between work or family. A way of moving forward with ease and grace, instead of falling back into the extremes of right or wrong, good or bad, black or white.

Have you noticed that thoughts that started off quiet, maybe years ago, have grown louder and more insistent lately? There has to be a way to have joy AND do good work! Surely I can be present at home AND be committed to purposeful service.

And then, after the murder of George Floyd, How can I contribute to a world where justice and prosperity is available for all and doesn't have to cause suffering for any?

While it's easy to look to the leaders - politically, in our organizations, in our communities - and yearn for THEM to change so that things will get better, you've also sensed that the real change begins on the inside. You, your neighbours, your family and workplace are powerful places to choose to start.

SHAHMEEN SADIQ, MCC

LEADERSHIP CONSULTANT AND MASTER CERTIFIED COACH

Shahmeen founded Anjali Leadership Inc. in 2005 and has guided the development of leaders from a wide variety of industries including insurance, government, consulting, healthcare, education, banking, hospitality and faith organizations. Since 2013 she has served as adjunct Leadership Faculty at the University of Notre Dame, and was the first female faculty member of The Leadership Circle, where she certified and mentored about a thousand coaches over her tenure from 2008-2019.

Shahmeen creates spaces where people feel that they belong, and she teaches and guides her clients to do so as well. In 2009 she was honored by the International Coach Federation with a Prism Award for one such project: large system healing and culture change within a fractured not-for-profit organization. 

These days she is focused on facilitating essential, intimate and difficult explorations with committed, courageous and resilient executives and senior leaders of purposeful organizations who will lead the world into and through the next chapter of human history. She also mentors seasoned leadership development coaches and consultants and HR professionals who support such leaders and organizations.

In 2019 Shahmeen created a new division focused on building powerful personal development called This Human Being. During the 2020 pandemic she began offering the Power Pause, a growing global community of daily well-being and leadership support through mindfulness and personal inquiry, as well as a new special leadership program for women. It will be fun to watch how these evolve in the coming months and years.

Shahmeen’s first role as a teacher was in the early 1990’s when she became a skydiving instructor. While she no longer jumps out of airplanes for fun, the spirit of confronting fears and leaping into life’s mysteries has always been with her. Since then, she has studied a breadth of human development and healing modalities from meditation/mindfulness, Pilates and yoga to family and systems constellations, through nutrition counselling and energy medicine. Her work weaves over 30 years of seeking, learning and integrating into potent transformational guidance for people who are interested in becoming whole, empowered contributors to the well-being of humanity.

Shahmeen is a poet and a budding visual artist. She is mother to two teenaged sons and stepmother to a teen daughter. She loves hiking and tries to get outside daily, even if just to walk to her favourite spot overlooking the bluffs near her home in Toronto.
